Primary Purpose:

The Campus Curriculum & Instruction Specialist Level II will support and utilize curriculum enhancements, oversee state and campus assessments, monitor instructional program implementation, coach teachers to ensure the continuous development of instructional skills of teachers provide academic intervention to students, teach demonstration lessons, lead data analysis, and model best practices.  The Campus C&I Specialist Level II will report to the campus Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

    Master’s degree from accredited university preferred

    Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation

    Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness

    Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners

    Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

    5 years teaching experience in subject area / grade band assigned

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Staff Development

  1. Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional learning and student learning.
  2. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
  3. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
  4. Analyze assessment data and assist the campus principal and teachers with planning professional learning to meet the specific needs of teachers.
  5. Plan and provide appropriate staff learning for teachers, administrators, and staff.
  6. Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement.
  7. Provide required training to campus staff and administrators related to state testing requirements.

Instructional and Program Management

  1. Serve as campus testing coordinator by facilitating and overseeing all state, district, and campus academic testing and maintaining compliance with all associated statutes and requirements.
  2. Lead the implementation of campus academic MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) programs including RtI and required state intervention such as HB 1416 accelerated instruction.
  3. Assist the Director of Curriculum & Instruction in leading the process of evaluating, selecting, and implementing appropriate instructional materials.
  4. Assist teachers in using classroom and assessment data to plan classroom instruction.
  5. Provide academic intervention by working with students and implementing plans for curriculum which provides for effective teaching strategies and behavioral support.
  6. Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
  7. Facilitate the evaluation of programs to ensure teachers implement current research-based practices as well as personally implementing those practices.
  8. Debrief with campus principal and director of curriculum and instruction as appropriate about possible actions that could be taken to improve instruction and implementation.
  9. Demonstrate lessons for teachers to model best instructional practices and ensure the fidelity of implementation and intervention support.
  10. Serve as a content-focused specialist for teachers across campuses in subject area of specialization for purposes of curriculum and instructional materials alignment.

Leadership

  1. Provide progress and interim reports as required.
  2. Train teachers in critical components of instructional delivery.

Other

  1. Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  4. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  5. Perform other tasks as may be assigned by supervisor(s).
